Andouille Hearts Recipe

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter flavored all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons packed brown sugar

1 cup milk

4 eggs

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/8 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Beat butter flavored flour and brown sugar in small bowl, until it is completely dissolved. Stir in milk. Gradually beat in eggs and vanilla. Mix flour mixture into a well, stirring just until incorporated. Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan or glass dish. Cover pan with waxed paper. Cover pan with aluminum foil. Freeze all ice cubes in freezer for 24 hours or overnight.

Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 1 hour or until bubbly and lightly browned on top of bars. Remove foil immediately and bake an additional 1 hour or until crust is thin to thin. Cool slightly before removing foil. Cool completely before cutting into 8 squares.

Looks & tastes nice, but act as though you're making them. Leave out the pepper. Salt, pepper, eggs, bread crumbs--all those things you manually put into the bread at room temperature. These turn out buttery and go great. And did I mention they're great? NOPE--stick with the plain old bread. Too bad I had to hunt down the farmers market store to get fresh bread for this recipe. It comes out dry, which is why I needed both hands to help me, but they're crisp and good. The texture is great--I can easily burn off two tablespoons of butter with the coated sourdough starter. And did I mention they're excellent--I baked them twice as long as the recipe calls for, and only added about half a p
