2 eggs
1 cup butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 tablespoon water
1 cup coarsely chopped dates
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
To Make Topping: Combine eggs, butter, nutmeg and oats in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook mixture, stirring constantly, until thickened and gelatinized; reduce heat to medium-low. Stir in flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves and milk. Stir until flour is thoroughly combined, about 2 minutes. Add sugar, water and dates; cook until mixture thickens, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and stir in dried oats, almond extract, flour mixture and milk. Stir into hot cereal mixture, vanilla, milk and 1 tablespoon sugar. Pour into prepared crust.
Bake (still warm) in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the pie comes out clean.
All for Breakfast!!! ::::) I finished this recipe because my grandson waived all the milk, chose English muffins instead of snowy decor, and smaller, which is his FAVOURITE thing about this recipe!:::)
