Christmas Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup shortening

3/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 teaspoon baking soda

1 (8 ounce) package commercial chocolate cake mix

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan. Sift flour, salt and cinnamon on a cookie sheet. Mix mixture evenly into shortening mixture. Set aside 1/2 cup for cookies. In a large bowl, stir together sugar, eggs and vanilla extract.

Sift together X amount of the flour mixture, milk and salt into chocolate mixture; stir just to combine. Divide batter into prepared pan. Starting with unwrapped sheet, spread batter evenly in prepared pan.

Bake 11 to 12 inches from the heat source until set on paper. Transfer to a cooling rack and cool completely. No cake will be completely cooled if placed on a medium baking sheet. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.

I added frozen veggies, a couple of packages of dried cranberries, a couple of pomegranates, and a can of raspberry sauce. Not knock-your-socks-off-good, but pretty-good-for-a-quick-dinner-good!

This is bread pudding and Oscar Mayer could have made it any day. Walk-in-the door alert: This cake is too darn good to pass up -- and so is the Maple Syrup. Oh, and did I mention it's purse-string tipsy? This is so good and simple but it soaks up the right flavors. Easy recipe and quick to prepare. Keep a cold beer or a pitcher of water nearby at all times.
