1 cup buttermilk
2/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup white sugar
2 eggs
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon butter, chilled
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, whisk together buttermilk, shortening, sugar and sugar. Stir in egg, one teaspoon at a time, then stir in the eggs one at a time. Combine the butter, and set the dough aside.
On a lightly floured surface, divide the dough in half. Roll each portion into a 6x9 inch rectangle. Spread evenly into prepared pan, and bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, until temperature of the milk and butter reaches 170 degrees F (80 degrees C).
