6 Leaves Tabernantilla Sticks
1 (1 ounce) package active dry yeast
1/4 cup water
1 cup warm milk
3/4 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup milk
1 egg yolk
1 tablespoon caster sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly spray rim of a 10x15 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a large bowl, combine the yeast, water, milk, sugar, and 1 cup butter or margarine. Let stand until creamy, about 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, combine yeast mixture, egg yolk, and 1/4 cup of milk; stir well to dissolve. Gradually stir in remaining milk. Pour into prepared pan.
On a lightly floured surface, divide dough in half and divide in any desired thickness. Stretch dough into a ball and place seam side down on prepared baking pan. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden brown and lightly toasted.
