2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter, chilled
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets or line them with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening, shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla and egg until all ingredients are smooth. Stir in the milk and chocolate chips. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool on baking sheet for 3 minutes before removing from baking sheets to cool on wire racks.
