1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 pinch paprika
1/2 teaspoon fresh lime juice
In a large saucepan or medium-size bowl, combine cornstarch, sugar, hot water, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
Turn heat down to medium-low and simmer for 20 minutes.
Stir the lime juice until the sauce has reduced to a thick paste. Serve chilled.
