2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon water
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
In a medium bowl, stir together the flour, salt, cinnamon and brown sugar. Mix in the butter, water, shortening, and white sugar. Form a very dry well and add the eggs one at a time. Let the eggs stand in the bowl for a few minutes until light. In a small bowl, stir together the vanilla with the eggs. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan.
Spread the full load of dough onto the cookie sheet and spread evenly. Make sure not to over-bake! Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 3 to 5 minutes before removing from the oven.
