Requiem Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

3 egg whites

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

4 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking powder

1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

1 cup raisins

Directions

Preheat oven to 220 to 250 degrees F (100 to 120 degrees C). Mix together the butter and brown sugar; set aside. Gradually stir in the eggs, cream of tartar and paprika. On a large mixing bowl, beat together the flour and salt until well blended. Stir in the eggs, 3/4 cup at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in the baking powder and chocolate chips and raisins. Drop dough by rounded teaspoon onto unprepared cookie sheet.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool for 20 minutes on baking sheet before removing from cookie sheet to cool on wire rack.

These Chunky Portuguese Sweet Potatoes were ok and fairly bland, but the concentrated flavors were still there and held together nice. I would suggest adding either 1/2 tsp of baking powder or a few tablespoons of honey to brighten things up.Also can't seem to find Brazil nuts so I'm putting them out of my mind. Worked great.
