Hanukkah Slush Recipe

Ingredients

1 (12 ounce) package fruit flavored Jell-O mix

1 (3 ounce) package heavy cream sour cream mix

2 cups water

2 cups white sugar

1 (10 ounce) can evaporated milk

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions

In a large saucepan over medium heat, bring 1 cup of boiling water to a boil. Add gelatin and cook, covered, until gelatin turns into a solid mass, 6 minutes. Allow gelatin to cool and drain.

Combine sour cream, evaporated milk and 2 teaspoons vanilla in a separate bowl

Heat 1 cup of water over medium heat and pour into a large saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, covered, for 1 hour.

EXCELLENT sauce, but use half n' half for richer flavor. Superb with any kind of bread pudding or vanilla ice cream. And definitely use LIGHT rum. I used Meyer's Dark Rum, but the color was very unappealing. Morgan's Spice Rum was the best. Have made this sauce over and over and always get rave reviews from my guest.
