4 cups white sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 (9 inch) pie shell, baked
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon water
4 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup milk
1 (12 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line bottom and sides of pie pan with foil.
In a large bowl, combine sugar and butter. Beat in egg and vanilla. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into center of the pie comes out clean, almost raw. Prepare and bake topping: In a medium saucepan, warm milk and vanilla. Remove from heat and pour over filling. Chill before serving.
