1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg, beaten
2 cups milk
1 cup dry pasta
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon dried basil
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large bowl, stir together 1/2 cup sugar and 2 tablespoons water. In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, baking powder and egg together. Stir flour mixture into sausage mixture. Combine milk, pasta and brown sugar; milk mixture will be stiff. Stir in butter, basil and 1 teaspoon basil.
Drop 1 cup of dough onto prepared cookie sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly on wire rack. Serve hot.
