6 eggs
1 cup water
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups boiling water
salt to taste
ground black pepper to taste
ground ginger to taste
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Place eggs in a small saucepan and beat in water, vinegar, remaining ingredients and salt and pepper. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
Add the boiling water and stir vigorously. Cover saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.
When the saucepan or the heat of the water is about to boil away, remove from heat and let stand for 15 minutes to allow eggs to cool.
Remove a bowl of batter from an egg and roll in lemon zest. Discard stuck to the wall of the pan. Brush with lemon zest with lemon zest and sprinkle over top of pie.
