1 cup white sugar
1 cup warm milk
1 cup butter
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.
In a saucepan, combine sugar and milk. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter or margarine and egg. Remove from heat and stir in the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto the prepared pan, aligning.
Bake for 12 to 14 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Perfect approach/good starting material. Didn't get much glow from it, but was okay. Will especially be trying the thickeners at work--they are awesome!!! :)
We made these cookies after reading the reviews and we were pretty happy with them. I don't normally write reviews but this was a really easy cookie to make and delivered exactly what was expected. I used leftover rolled oats and about 1/3 c. sour cream. I also added some vanilla and a little more chocolate chips. I hope you enjoy them as much as we did!
I make a cookie called "Bitten" for a bakery in my shop that makes a slightly sweet cookie with real butter. The recipe calls for butterscotch brown sugar, but I always use white sugar or agave, and 4 tsp. powdered sugar instead. What a treat. I put the dry ingredients in my stand mixer bowl and did the dough hook thing instead of the dough hook. It made about 3 dough hooks full. Then I used a large spoon to drop the wet ingredients into the bowl. I waited about 15 seconds and then I put the bowl over a pan and started to steam cook the cookies. They came out of the oven and were very good. I liked the shapes, so I am not sure what I would make differently. Anyway, delicious, and so easy! I will try making the cookie into bars, maybe I can find some chocolate chips to take the place of
yummy! would have been better with candles
