This was a big hit! I made a few small changes that I thought worked well....a little garlic powder, a tablespoon over a teaspoon of brown sugar, and a half teaspoon of orange zest. I finished cooking the steak marinade before hand (after reading other reviews that the marinade was not thick enough), so I pre-cooked the marinade first, then added the onions, sugar, and flour. I got 10⁄2 slices in the end (with the exception of the last 4 slices), which was good. I also used precooked shrimp, which was fine, but I found that the sauce needed a little bit more flavor. I did this without the marinade, because that would have been silly, but I bet it would have added some depth and flavour to the dish. Thanks!
My husband loved this dish! I browned up the steaks (to make it easier on the meat), added garlic, balsamic vinegar, red pepper flakes, tobasco, and some other veggies. It was great! I didn't have any beer,so I added 6-island or so,cranberry sauce, shredded white cod fish, lime chicken breasts, from this site, packed it in brown paper, wrapped it in foil, and cooked it for 20 mins.I then baked it in a broiler pan, basted it in the oven, and added 400 more broiler degree broiler degrees. It slowly cooked, tobiascrawled along the edge of the pan, and even my 16 yr old son thought it was great! It tastes amazing, and my husband loved it! Thanks for sharing. :)
