Chinese New Year Dessert Recipe


1 cup chopped walnuts

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, room temperature

3/4 cup white sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract


Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, mix the nuts and cream cheese until well blended. Add the remaining 2 eggs, 1 ½ cup confectioners' sugar, and the vanilla. Mix well, then stir in the almond extract and 1/2 teaspoon almond extract. Pour into a 9x13 inch baking dish or bowl. Spread topping over almonds and seal the lid with toothpicks. Sprinkle with chopped walnuts and vanilla, and then sprinkle a little almond extract over.

Bake in the preheated oven 30 to 35 minutes, until set and slightly brown on the top. Cool and frost.
