2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats

1/2 cup milk
3 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brewed whole milk

In a large bowl, stir together flour, oats, baking soda and salt. Add milk, eggs, butter and brewed milk. Stir until just combined, then fold in the onion and slice bread cubes (optional).
Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake 35 to 40 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow to cool on wire rack.
