1 cup butter
1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 cups white sugar
3 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups white sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
In a large bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar and white sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour, salt and remaining sugar, gradually stir into the creamed mixture. Fold in the baking soda, then mixture will be sticky and lumpy. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
