1 pound ground beef
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
3 tablespoons minced onion
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
2 teaspoons dried rosemary
2 teaspoons white sugar
1 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
1 (15 ounce) can whole peeled tomatoes, with liquid
2 tablespoons Italian-style seasoning
1 (5 ounce) can tomato paste
1 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons cornstarch
In a medium skillet, brown the ground beef with the Worcestershire sauce and onion. Drain well and place meat in a slow cooker. Add the salt, garlic powder, oregano, basil, rosemary, sugar, marjoram, thyme, tomatoes, Italian-style seasoning and tomato paste. Mix well and place meat in the pot.
Cover, and cook on Low 6 to 7 hours, stirring occasionally, until meat is tender and has reached desired tenderness.
Reduce heat to Low and simmer for 5 to 6 hours. Add wine, oil, cornstarch and salt. Continue cooking for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Serve meat hot or cool.
