1 cup water
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 cup white sugar for rolling
2 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup espresso coffee, drained
In a saucepan, combine water, brown sugar, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, white sugar and 2 cups flour. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to medium-low, and reduce the vinegar by about half. Cover, and allow to simmer 5 minutes. Add espresso coffee, stirring thoroughly, and pour over pasta sauce.
