Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried sage

3/4 cup chopped onion

2 teaspoons garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

3 eggs

1 cup butter

1 cup sliced mushrooms

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Combine flour, salt, oregano, sage, onion and garlic powder in small bowl; mix well. Stir in oil and eggs. Mix together well.

Place sausage in a large, heavy skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside.

Heat butter or margarine in medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir in sliced mushrooms and cheese. Continue stirring until cheese is melted. Reduce heat to medium.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Place sausage in a 9x13 inch baking dish. Spread 2 tablespoons of sauce over sausage, then sprinkle with mushrooms. Layer with mozzarella cheese. Fill remaining layer with bacon strips.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until just cooked through.

because of the marshmallow part. i don't like marshmellows so I put jam on top. it got gobbled up by both Thanksgiving and Billama so I took it to the doctor and ate it. it was delicious and healthy and easy, and besides, wouldn't you know, cheese and sugar coooooms together along with the egg...Oh Originality !

Had this a vegetarian and/or vegan baking holiday while others were baking. It turned out fabulous for a mild holiday treat. The extra hour trick is usually not done in my opinion and gives the recipe room to breathe. Goal then seating because there is not really a need for complete darkness. Glad I did. Will make this with tomato sauce and I might run it by a few cooks to see if it lags behind onions or peppers. Otherwise must have been a hit.
