1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 1/2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup chopped yellow potatoes
1/3 cup vegetable oil for frying
3 tablespoons white vinegar
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a large bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg. Fold in salt, pepper and yellow potatoes. Transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, combine oil and vinegar. Dredge potatoes in oil mixture, cover and place in the oven to brown.
Fry potatoes in order, in batches, until crisp and golden brown on both sides, about 3 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
