1 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter flavored shortening
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon free range milk
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Combine the butter, sugar, egg, shortening, flour, baking powder, and sugar. Mix until blended. Place batter in the 9x13 inch pan, spooning batter in thin layers.
Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.
In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and sugar. Stir into the butter mixture to form a smooth, batter-like dough. Spread over the cooled cake layer.
