1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped almonds
2 teaspoons lemon zest
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup milk
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in egg, flour, baking powder and salt. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed for 5 minutes. Combine cream cheese and milk; beat well. Pour mixture into cookie sheet.
Bake for 50 to 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until center of the cookies are light golden brown. Cool slightly before cutting into squares.
