Apple Walnut Pie Recipe

Ingredients

1 (18 ounce) package apple pie filling

1/4 cup white sugar

2 tablespoons butter

2 teaspoons lemon zest

2 tablespoons sparkling water

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

1/4 cup chopped walnuts

1 egg

1/2 cup lemon juice

1/4 cup white sugar

1/4 cup brandy

1/2 cup margarine, melted

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the butter mixture and lemon zest. Combine the lemon juice and sugar; pour mixture into pie shell. Sprinkle the lemon mixture over pie. Fill pie crust with the apple mixture.

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on rack.

In a small bowl, mix egg and lemon juice. Stir egg mixture into lemon mixture. Pour mixture into pie shell. Chill 3 hours before serving.

To make the lemon glaze: Heat margarine in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Mix together the lemon butter and white sugar; heat until just under boiling.

I made this quick, easy appetizer cutting calories and pomegranates:) - put raisins in the mix (and a pinch of allspice for spice). Variation: instead of pomegranates, I added strawberries.
