Italian Meatballs Recipe

Ingredients

2 pounds lean ground beef

1/2 cup chopped onion

1 (8 ounce) can tomato paste

1 (6 ounce) can sliced mushrooms

1 (4 ounce) can tomato paste

1/2 cup tomato juice

1 cup dry bread crumbs

1/2 cup minced clams

1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup

2 tablespoons wine

1 tablespoon beef broth

1/2 teaspoon white sugar

1 teaspoon dried basil

2/3 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 (6 ounce) can tomato paste

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onion. Stir in tomato paste, tomatoes, tomato juice, bread crumbs, tomato paste, tomato soup, wine and beef broth. Cook, stirring constantly, until all ingredients are heated.

Gradually stir in the sugar, basil, mozzarella cheese and tomato paste; pour mixture into a 2 quart casserole dish. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and top with remaining tomato paste.

Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until meat is tender and cheese is bubbly.
