1 cup applesauce
1 cup melted butter
1 cup semisweet chocolate, melted
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, measure teaspoonful at a time
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate, softened
3/4 cup shortening
1 drop green food coloring
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups chopped pecans
2/3 cup mini semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup confectioners' sugar for decoration
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Sift together 2 cups flour, baking soda and salt; set aside. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine applesauce, butter and melted chocolate. Stir together and set aside.
In one bowl, sift together flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in green food coloring and vanilla extract. Mix together applesauce mixture and broke chocolate mixture (with cellars gradually adding more fruit, like cranberries, you will need more). Spoon batter into prepared baking sheets, spacing your cookies 3 inches apart.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly browned. Let cool before cutting.
