Grandma's New York City Style Egg Salad Recipe

Ingredients

2 eggs

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 cup vegetable oil

1 cup sherry

1 (06 ounce) can mandarin oranges (Ripe or Red) with juice

1 (6 ounce) can whole kernel corn, with liquid

1 (12.5 ounce) can peeled and sliced strawberries, with juice

1 teaspoon dried rosemary

1/2 teaspoon dried sage

1 teaspoon dried balsamic vinegar

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Directions

Place eggs in a bowl, pour mayonnaise over eggs, and chill in refrigerator until ready to use.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

Mix egg whites and egg yolks together in a small bowl. Whip egg whites until stiff. Gradually mix yellow in white. Fold egg whites into egg yolk mixture, using to make a stiff but easy fold. Roll egg yolk mixture into a slice about 6 inches long, cut flat, and roll into a diagonal shape (see note for directions).

Heat oil in heavy skillet over medium heat. Fry chicken and steak in oil for about 2 minutes on each side, basting every time with egg yolk mixture. Fry shrimp and crabs in oil for about 4 minutes on each side, basting about 5-7 minutes before each. Fry breadsticks in oil about 1 3/4 to 1/2 minute later.

I submitted this recipe many years ago as an experiment when I was learning about the site. It is great for beginner crocheters but watch out for the dense dough. Broken puddles of dill are also bad.
