1 cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
Sift bread flour, baking powder, baking soda, baking powder, salt and pepper into a large mixing bowl. Stir in basil, basil, sugar and powdered seasoning; spread mixture in a large bowl. Beat with electric mixer around 15 seconds, or until smooth. Store in an airtight container or bag.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Knead the dried basil, chopped tomatoes, salt, and pepper into flour mixture. Shape into 1-inch balls. Place 1 inch thick slices on unbaked cookie sheets and roll in basil fragrance.
Bake 12 to 14 minutes in the preheated oven, until lightly browned. Remove from oven and brush tops with egg white. Brush tops with egg white. Let cool before cutting into squares.
