2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped dried fruit (optional)
4 tablespoons butter
1/4 cup honey
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease an 8x8 inch baking dish. Sift flour, baking soda, salt and buttermilk. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, cream together 2 eggs and butter. Beat in honey and chocolate chips. Scald chocolate mixture, then add 1 cup dried fruit, egg yolks, and butter. Scald mixture, then stir in flour mixture. (Don't over-brew as you never know when you'll need to do heavy work to finish the loaf.) Pour batter into prepared baking dish.
Layer 1/2 of frozen strawberries on top of each layer. Pour cooled batter over layers, ending with bottom layer. Stir together remaining strawberries and remaining chocolate. Pour over crust.
Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 15 minutes, or until top is golden brown and moist. Let cool completely before serving.
