1/4 cup butter, softened
1 (16 ounce) package Italian sausage, cut into 1/2 inch strips
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon dried rosemary
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a medium bowl, cream butter together the sausage, salt and rosemary until well blended. Place mixture in a large mixing bowl and spread evenly into a 9x13 inch baking dish. Top with a slice of Italian bread. Cover with foil and let sit overnight.
Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven.
