2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup white sugar
1 large yellow onion, peeled and chopped
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup margarine
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (1 ounce) square frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 egg, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
In a large bowl, stir together the flour, baking soda and brown sugar. In a separate bowl, cream together the oil, white sugar and orange juice. Stir the whole mixture into the creamed mixture, then stir in the margarine and milk. Beat in the vanilla. Stir in the flour mixture and whipped cream. Spread evenly into the prepared pans.
Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool completely, then cut into 1 ounce squares.
To make the frosting: In a large bowl, cream together the margarine, sugar and egg. Beat into the creamed mixture until smooth.
