Avoiding post quickly, USC cheerleaders Harry Brown and Hank Spencer worked their way to the base of the cone and around the outside edge of the ball.

Kiffin made use of the western end zone for his first opportunity to open the ball, opening the drive with a 6-yard run.

But as USC entered its third quarter, USC was still scrambling to get on top of the Trojans.

With USC going up 9-3, USC coach Lane Kiffin began watching film on an old-fashioned television set and moving the offensive line around as he desired.

Kiffin, along with USC assistant coach Dave Brown, assistant head coach Steve Silverman and vice president of athletics Mike McGlinchey, moved offense and defense around the base of the cone and around the outside edge of the ball during the second quarter.

Kiffin then got to his role as the head coach, ordering quarterbacks Kellen Rivers and Franklin Leonard to scramble and make throws to the right side of the field during the third quarter.

However, their efforts were unsuccessful as USC was unable to prove the game-winning drive.

"My guess is that it was all of us," Kiffin said after the game. "I think we were fortunate."

And the Trojans weren't the only ones in awe.

"We were all standing there, and they were dancing," said USC player Christine Brewer. "I mean, how many people dance? Just amazing."

For USC fans, the game was awesome.

"I'm really looking forward to it now, especially getting this game from the Pac-12," said USC player Sandi Haush. "It was awesome playing against Lane."

Haush added that watching USC play against Lane Kiffin was "pretty cool."

They were all sold on USC's new head coach.

"He's been around during the last few years, and he's done a lot of good stuff," said USC player Matthew Artis. "I think he was really effective in last year's game against Texas. We're really excited about the way he's coaching this year."

"I think he understands the importance of building off of last year," said USC player Brandon Raines. "I think we're going to be OK, and he was successful with Baylor last season. That's the plan for this year. Just stay focussed on it."

For USC fans, the game was wonderful.

"It's been a huge honor to serve as Trojans cheerleader," said USC player Bryce Vandenburg. "Arguably my junior year, I was one of the guys who helped lure USC to Pasadena."

"I think the game was pretty great. It was fun to watch," said USC player Maya Johnson. "It was crazy to see how much fun they were having by the end of the game."

For USC fans, the game was great.

"It was very exciting to see how USC's got to use their cheerleaders," said USC player Connor DeBerry. "I think it's great how they're using some of the more fussy areas like the armpits, and the legs. It was really fun to watch them struggle with no help."

For the USC fans, the game was great.

"I think we're all going to like this game a lot," said USC player Lindsey Brown. "For me, the best part of my week was watching them beat Penn State last week in our place! It was just an amazing moment to see them there and victorious."
