La Scortato Recipe


1 (16 ounce) can frozen chopped spinach, thawed

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1 (4 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

1/2 pound chopped celery

1 tomato, seeded and sliced

1/2 cup chopped bacon

2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese

1 (2.25 ounce) tube spaghetti sauce

1 (1 ounce) package dry Ranch-style dressing mix


In a medium bowl, whisk together the spinach, cream cheese, cream cheese, celery and tomato. Stir in the bacon, cheese and bacon.

Add the cream cheese mixture to the spinach mixture; beat well to coat. Serve warm.

I have added a large can of diced tomatoes and diced black olives to the recipe. I have also added a can of chickpeas--great with the crab and steak. I have also added a jar of Trader Joes dressing--perfect. I have used this recipe before but always used Trader Joes brand condiments.
