1 pound lean ground beef
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 red onion, chopped
salt and pepper to taste
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 tablespoon dried rosemary
1 (14 ounce) can canned whole kernel corn
1 (1 pound) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
In a medium skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat, leaving chunks of meat in the pan. Meanwhile, in a large bowl, combine sugar, garlic powder, oregano, red pepper, red onion, salt, pepper, and basil. Mix thoroughly.
Layer the meat mixture with the sugar mixture, peppers, corn, tomato sauce, parsley, and parsley. Pour the meat mixture all over the pan, and sprinkle with mint leaves. Cover, and chill for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the broiler. Remove plastic wrap and grease a large 9x13 inch baking dish.
Broil in the preheated oven for about 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until meat is no longer pink and juices run clear.
