8 onions, chopped
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon paprika
4 tablespoons white sugar
2 tablespoons cardamom
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1/2 cup vegetable broth
1 pound ground beef
salt and pepper to taste
1 (15 ounce) can beef broth
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
6 cups water
2 potatoes, cubed
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup carrots, sliced
salt and pepper to taste
In a large saucepan, combine onions, water, 1 tablespoon paprika, sugar, cardamom, thyme, broth and oil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, and simmer for 20 minutes. Stir in potatoes, carrots, salt and pepper. Simmer 5 to 10 minutes, until potatoes are tender.
