Chocolate Banana Cake Recipe

Ingredients

1 (18 ounce) package white cake mix

1 (3 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix

2 cups milk

1 (17 ounce) can sliced sunflower seeds

10 bananas

1 cup chopped pecans

6 egg whites

3/4 cup milk

1/2 cup butter

1 (16 ounce) can confectioners' sugar for dusting

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour 2 (9 inch) round pans.

In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, pudding mix, milk, sunflower seeds, bananas, pecans, egg whites and butter until smooth. Stir to completely moisten ingredients.

Divide mixture into two bowls, and coat with confectioners' sugar.

Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean. Cool cake completely, dust with confectioners' sugar before cutting into 1-inch squares.

This cake was very good but I think I prefer my brownies more cake-like. I made the bottom layer as is (without the brownie chips) and it came out very moist and very quick. The cake itself is very moist, but the brownie chips definitely add more texture and texture, as they sit right on the cake. I haven't tried the topping, but if it were me, I would probably add some chocolate chips or sprinkles of chocolate, depending on what kind of cake I make next. I think the brownie chips would probably overpower the cake itself. I prefer my brownies more like chocolate peanut butter cups, and these would probably be perfect for me. The red velvet frosting is a very nice touch, and would probably make a great addition to any chocolate-loving cake. I would definitely make these again.

This is a must try dessert! I made it exactly according to the recipe and it was amazing. I almost made the icing, but I didn't because I was afraid of the bananas. I almost didn't put the frosting on top because I put it in a 9x13 pan and it looked so sad, but it was so beautiful with the frosting. It was so easy and super delicious. If I were to make it again, I would just put the bananas in the blender with a couple of balsamic viniagrette cubes and blend it, then add the rest of the frosting. It turned out so good I might as well try.
