1 1/2 onions, chopped
2 carrots, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 red bell pepper, chopped
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 tablespoons sesame seeds
1 green bell pepper, cut into 1/4 inch pieces
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1/2 cup minced fresh ginger root
1/2 teaspoon white sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 pounds cabbage
In a large bowl, mix together the onions, carrots, red bell pepper, mushrooms, black pepper, sesame seeds, green pepper, soy sauce and vinegar. Shape cabbage into 4 small ribbons. Transfer the ribs into the oil dish and place them side by side. Continue this process until all the ribs are used. Wrap the ribbons in the foil and tie tightly with plastic wrap.
Remove ribbons from the saucepan and place them on a plate. Cover with aluminum foil and steam the ribs for 2 hours, then transfer to the serving platter.
