1 1/2 cups milk
2 cups white sugar
3 tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chopped almonds
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons butter
2 1/2 teaspoons almond extract
1 cup boiling water
1 cup flaked coconut
1 teaspoon lemon juice
In a large saucepan, combine milk, sugar, melted butter and vanilla. Bring to a slow boil, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and pour into a 9x9 inch pan. Sprinkle with chopped almonds, oil and vanilla. Pour boiling water over the top of the cake. Chill for about 5 hours, stirring occasionally. Remove from refrigerator and allow to cool completely.
Place coconut in a large bowl. Mix lemon juice, remaining 1/2 cup of water and chopped nuts and sprinkle on top. Cover with cake. Let cool completely.
