2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons powdered milk powder
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine about 3 cups milk and sugar. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, adding more milk as needed to keep liquid from getting into the dough. Boil for 8 minutes.
While boiling milk is heating, combine eggs, 1/2 cup sugar, 3/4 cup milk, 1 teaspoon vinegar, 1/3 cup butter, 1 1 cup sugar, milk, vanilla extract, and milk powder. Mix together, then pour into pie crust.
Arrange one slice of the pie crust on a large serving pan. Loosely roll pastry into a 9 inch circle, 1/4 inch thick. When baking sheet has just bottomed out, place plastic wrap around pie to keep it from collapsing when placing on glass or metal rack. Using a 2 inch round sieve, scoop into 13 or 14 disk shapes. Place on ungreased baking sheet and brush filling with melted butter.
Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) for 30 minutes, or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, refrigerate, and store in refrigerator.
