6 tablespoons butter, softened
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup packed light brown sugar
2 eggs
1 cinnamon stick
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup brown sugar for decoration
1/2 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (1 ounce) square unsweetened chocolate, chopped
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
Use a griddle or frying pan, or place bread on bottom rack of pan to stand upright.
In a large bowl, beat butter or margarine with flour until light brown. Mix in brown sugar, eggs, 1 cinnamon stick, all-purpose flour, milk and brown sugar, with mixer; mix well. Add water, brown sugar, water and vanilla; mix well. Fold in chocolate. Spread mixture evenly in baking pan.
Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, until center is light brown and yolks are firm.
