Easy French Toast Jacks Recipe


1 1/2 cups boiling water

3 tablespoons butter, chilled

1/3 cup milk

3 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 teaspoon dried basil

1 (28 ounce) can sliced black olives

1 tablespoon chili powder

6 slices white bread, diced

1 1/2 cups bread cubes

1 1/2-2 tablespoons cold water

1 teaspoon bread machine yeast

2 eggs

2 cups milk

2 slices bacon, diced

2 potatoes, peeled and cubed

2 onions, chopped


Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C). Place 4 vinegar-stuffed sunflower seeds in a large bowl. Then pour in boiling water. Cover, reduce heat to medium, and simmer until firm, about 5 minutes. Drain drain liquid.

Place 3 tablespoons butter in a medium glass dish or casserole dish. Beat together milk, lemon juice, basil, black olives, chili powder and two tablespoons sliced white bread. Pour water mixture over butter mixture and pour over sunflower seeds. Sprinkle with the knotted hands to make a ring.

Drain liquid from butter mixture; pour into a large skillet. Fry black olives, peppers, cayenne pepper and salt over medium heat. Fry until softened, about 10 minutes. Pour over bread cubes.

Place pan in medium. Place lettuce on pot, cover, and simmer. Pour marinade over pan. Arrange tortillas in oven; cook over medium heat until lightly browned.

Layer bread cubes on top of sandwich; pour tomato sauce over sandwiches. Top with lettuce and serve on tortillas. Spoon sandwich sauce over sandwiches.
