3/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt; stir into the creamed mixture. Mix in the flour mixture. Gradually mix in the milk and vanilla. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place cookies 2 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
