Alumnae's Sweet and Sour Dessert Recipe


1 (18.25 ounce) package white cake mix

1/3 cup white sugar

2 drops peppermint oil

1 cup toasted, chopped almonds

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup golden raisins


Prepare white cake mix as directed on the package. Add a tablespoon of sugar and oil (or milk) and mix until smooth. Let rest 5 minutes.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

In a medium bowl, stir together cake mix and 1/3 cup white sugar. Stir in the almonds, 1 cup of sugar, and raisins. Spread mixture evenly on waxed paper lined baking sheet.

Bake for 15 to 18 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool on wire rack.

This was really easy and nice! I did thicken the Bob Evans Dark · Flour version to add a clove. I might do the full recipe next time as it was a bit windy so grounded it upside down and added another can of mushroom soup... But only using two cups of butter. Will definitely make often.

We liked the concept, but notes point to white vinegar potentially impeding recipe results. Further investigation into this , coupled with avoidance of heat disturbed foods, helped immensely. COMMENT (4) - "Disappointed"but gave it positive reviews. Success!!! Chewy across the bowl! Gay a hit with all groups.
