1 (12 ounce) package Italian-style dry bread crumbs
1/3 cup melted butter
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 (8 ounce) package Italian-style dry bread crumbs, divided
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Slice bread into thin slices. Place half of bread crumbs in the bottom of a greased 9x5 inch baking dish. Fold the other half of bread crumbs over the bread. Transfer to the baking dish. Spread batter between bread slices, leading to a net thickness of 2 inches. Layer crumbs on top of bread slices and spread to cover.
Bake bread slices for 3 to 4 minutes in the preheated oven, turning once. Remove from oven, sprinkle with remaining bread crumbs. Return to oven for 1 to 2 minutes, or until golden brown.
