Cabernet Sauces Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup boiling water

1/4 cup uncooked white rice

1 medium onion, finely chopped

2 tablespoons butter

1 cup milk

3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar

1 teaspoon dried basil

1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper flakes

1/2 teaspoon dried oregano

1 teaspoon dried marjoram

1/2 cup finely chopped cooked beef

1/2 teaspoon prepared horseradish

Directions

In a medium saucepan, heat water and rice to boiling. Stir in onion, butter and milk. Reduce heat, cover and simmer until liquid is reduced by half, about 10 minutes.

Stir in vinegar, basil, crushed red pepper flakes, oregano and marjoram.

Stir over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens, about 5 minutes. Cover, and simmer 2 minutes. Mix in beef, horseradish and basil. Stir well and simmer about 5 minutes more.
