Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Place a sheet of waxed paper between the bottom and sides of two 9 inch cookie sheets.
In a large bowl, cream together the shortening and brown sugar until smooth; beat in the shortening, chocolate syrup, brown sugar, and cocoa. Keep whipping, mixing with the brown sugar and brown sugar until well combined. Fold in the melted butter. Spread evenly onto cookie sheets.
Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the cookies are golden brown. Remove from cookie sheets to cool on wire racks.
