I added some strawberry-flavored protein powder to my blender before I blended my smoothie. It turned out fantastic, and I'm not limited to just strawberries. I also used frozen bananas, which I'm sure would also be great in this. I was going to leave out the nuts, but I am so happy I didn't--they add such a nice touch. I blended my blender's nozzles first and then my food processor--I thought the job was pretty and didn't want to delay it too much. Thanks, Cynthia for an easy recipe!
A smoothie has to have some thickness and texture, and this recipe calls for nothing more than a couple shakes of pure vanilla ice cream. I always add a good shake of fresh lemon juice, and sometimes a squeeze of fresh lemon peel. It really does make a smoothie, and this is easily remedied by simply adding a bit more ice cream or lemon curd. The smoothie is truly amazing. I will definitely be making this again.
Made this smoothie & it was fab! Super easy & super delicious!
