1 (4 pound) whole chicken
1 (3.5 ounce) package instant chicken soup mix
1 (4 ounce) can chicken flavored juice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Place chicken in a deep pot and microwave on high for about 5 to 7 minutes, or until cooked through.
Place za'atar in pot and cover pot with water. Bring water to a boil and pour into pot with lid off. Cover pot and simmer for 5 minutes, turning occasionally. Remove lid from pot and allow za'atar to simmer for 10 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through.
Place za'atar in a wok and drizzle with brown sugar. Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat.
Arrange chicken pieces in shallow baking dish. Place za'atar over chicken in dish. Top with chicken and pour sherry and brown sugar over all, being sure to cover.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 2 hours.
