Zesty Crisp Honey Buns Recipe

Ingredients

4 1/2 cups honey

4 eggs

3 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup butter, chilled and diced

1 cup packed light brown sugar

1 cup light yellow food coloring

1 cup honey

3 teaspoons annatto extract

1 cup chopped pecans

2 1/2 cups margarine

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

Beat honey in medium bowl, egg in large saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly until light and fluffy. Stir in butter, brown sugar, cream of tartar and remaining 1/4 cup butter/brown sugar. Continue stirring, stirring frequently, until butter and brown sugar are well blended. Pour mixture into prepared cookie sheets

Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes, until no one is left in center but butter/brown sugar glaze. Cool for 10 minutes; remove skins. Cool completely before frosting.

In a 9x9 inch pan, layer 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup light yellow food coloring, and 1 cup honey over peer cool crust. Reserve 1/4 cup brown sugar for syrup; frosting can be made with additional brown sugar and white sugar. Wrap with parchment or plastic wrap to keep warm. I didn't have garlic powder, so I added garlic powder, oregano, and basil. I wanted to add cinnamon, so I used brown sugar, cocoa powder, and whole fudge. I could see adding white sugar.....

It was ok. I may make it again but would use fresh minced garlic instead of the powder and increase the amount of honey to 1 tsp.
